Just the Nicest Couple

Mary Kubica

Kayleigh's Thoughts

In Just the Nicest Couple, Mary Kubica crafts a domestic thriller centered on two couples whose lives become entangled after one husband disappears. The narrative shifts between Nina (the missing husband’s wife) and Christian, Lily’s husband—she may have been the last to see Jake, and secrets spiral from there.

Despite a compelling premise of betrayal and hidden truths, the story loses tension early when many major reveals become obvious. The characters and plot lacked lasting impact, leaving the conclusion feeling thin and unmemorable.
