Ghost Station

S.A. Barnes

Kayleigh's Thoughts

Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes is a sci-fi horror novel that follows a female psychologist joining a mission to a distant planet, where things begin to unravel in eerie and unsettling ways. Initially selected as part of a sci-fi book club pick, this title turned out to be an unexpected favorite, especially for readers new to horror.

Despite a slower build in the first half, the story remains engaging with strong pacing, space exploration intrigue, and steadily rising tension. Around the midpoint, the psychological suspense kicks in, blending horror elements with a clever dose of unreliability from the narrator. Through claustrophobic settings, mental unraveling, and scientific discoveries, the novel keeps readers on edge and eager to uncover the truth.

I didn’t think I’d ever enjoy horror…but Ghost Station turned me into a believer—with chills in the best kind of way.
