“And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”James 3:18 ESV

When we are not filled with the fruit of righteousness – arrogance, condescension and pride will take over our actions. These are heinous acts which are diametrically opposed to all that Christ taught and modeled. Pride is the opposite of wisdom.

The Creator of the world walked this earth without a hint of pride, and he modeled for us how to live with integrity and humility, using wisdom.

Philippians 4:5-7 says:

“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”(ESV)

God calls us to live in peace and humility with others, being reasonable and understanding, making peace. This is wisdom. Wisdom is following God’s Word and living a life like our Lord Jesus.

Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully man, was also wise beyond our comprehension, but he tempered his wisdom with love. He showed people the truth while exercising love and care, and explaining things carefully in ways they could comprehend. In the same way, we are called to be self-controlled and not wild or arrogant in our thinking, temperament, actions and words. We should model our communication after Jesus’, and try to bring peace and understanding to the people we encounter. Through God’s guidance, we can balance passion and kindness in our wisdom, sharing peace and the fruit of righteousness with others.

When we are learning and proclaiming God’s wisdom, we will live this life with passion and conviction.

When we live in his wisdom, we will see life as a wondrous adventure staying in his presence and precepts. So let us ask for his wisdom and then live in it for his glory, seizing the fantastic opportunities he has for us!
