The Villa

Rachel Hawkins

Kayleigh's Thoughts

Set against the atmospheric backdrop of an Italian villa with a scandalous past, The Villa flips between two timelines—one a 1970s rock-star murder mystery, the other a modern-day unraveling of female friendship and ambition. The dual stories had potential, and the setting was a fun escape, especially for anyone who loves Italy or pop culture references.

While it had the makings of a great vacation read, it just didn’t leave a lasting impression.
