Remarkably Bright Creatures

Shelby Van Pelt

Kayleigh's Thoughts

Remarkably Bright Creatures is a heartwarming story about an unlikely connection between a lonely woman and a clever octopus named Marcellus. While many readers have fallen in love with its feel-good charm and cozy tone, this one didn’t quite land the same way here.

The book is sweet and clean, with a beautiful premise, but much of the plot felt slow and uneventful. Marcellus—the most engaging character—is rarely on the page, leaving the rest of the story feeling a bit flat.

It’s an easy, gentle read that many have adored.
