Fractured

Karin Slaughter

Kayleigh's Thoughts

Tightly written, emotionally layered, and surprisingly restrained for a Karin Slaughter novel, Fractured delivers a compelling cop procedural without the excessive gore or spice often found in crime thrillers. As book two in the Will Trent series, it works well as a standalone—even offering a better introduction to the character than book one. With strong Law & Order: SVU vibes and a gripping mystery that avoids sensationalism, it’s a solid pick for readers wanting a gritty-but-readable detective story.

This is what happens when Law & Order gets literary: sharp, suspenseful, and surprisingly clean.
