Today I encourage you to awaken to God’s creation, to “stop and smell the roses” as they say. Awaken by reading through Psalm 19. Read it slowly. Read it out-loud. Read it twice or thrice. Let the words sink into your heart. Creation speaks for GOD. All can hear its words, yes, every person in every nation.

“The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”  Psalm 19:1

One just has to behold the regularity of the sun -its power and its provision- to marvel at the wisdom of creation and its creator.

God is NOT mother earth. He is the mother, father and creator of earth. He created earth and the entire universe. He gave birth to it (Gen. 1:6-8) by the power of his word. Imagine that! Speaking all of what we see and don’t see into existence. Dear friend, don’t fall in love with His creation; fall in love with the CREATOR.

God nurtures His creation.  He loves, heals, instructs, provides, disciplines, feeds, cleans, purifies, protects and so much more.

Today, be inspired to look at creation all around you. Don’t miss any details. Read it like a book. Don’t miss a “word” from the birds, the plants, flowers, animals, seas, mountains and sky. Be aware of it all! The word of GOD has created all of these and so much more. (Job 12:7-9)

Paul reminds us that God’s power and might are “clearly perceived.” (Rom. 1:20)

My favorite way to awaken to God’s creation is to listen to this Psalm while I go on a nature walk. I forget about fitness and fat loss. I ignore the runners that wiz past me as if someone is chasing them. I let go of my competitive drive and instead admire the beautify of each person. I walk slow and take deep breaths. I stop and stare a bug crossing the path or the line of ants busily following each other to who knows where. I follow a bird from tree to tree or watch a flock of birds change directions with excellence.  These moments fill me with encouragement, wonder, inspiration. I realize how creative God is. I imagine how much fun it must have been for God as he created some of his creatures and plants. When I am awaken, I am refreshed.

Therefore, I urge you, “from the rising of the sun to its’ setting” let us not miss this opportunity to praise the LORD and be blessed by his presence. (Ps. 113:3)

And, if you have time to dive deeper, here are some additional praise words to meditate upon: Ps. 19:14, Job 19:25, Ps. 18:2; 18:31; 31:5; 51:15; 78:35; 104:34 and Isaiah 47:4.

What did you see? What did you hear from God today?
