How this study guide works

This study workbook can be completed with any of the following:

  1. Read Uncharted, pairing the book chapters with the rhythm of this study.
  2. Attend the live-teaching course. Reading Uncharted is optional.
  3. Read Uncharted and watch the teaching videos for each session.

Each week contains common elements designed to help you engage with the material individually and with others: Personal Study and Group Discussion. In the Personal Study portion, learn more about yourself and your journey as you explore the lives of men and women from the Bible and answer reflection questions. You can complete the Personal Study all at once or spread it out over multiple days by doing one section at a time. The Group Discussion contains additional reading material, questions, and tools to dialogue and grow with a friend, mentor, or small group.

Personal Study

  • READ: Read the relevant passages of Scripture you will be studying and, as optional reading, the Uncharted chapters that correspond with the session.
  • JOURNAL: Reflect on what God is teaching you from the readings and lift up your own uncharted journey in prayer. As you do, remember that this time is a safe space to be honest with God and yourself. Allow God to meet you where you are.
  • RESPOND: Write out your observations and respond to several thought-provoking questions.
  • PRACTICE: Each week, you will be prompted to engage in a spiritual practice to cultivate your relationship with God. The Spiritual Practices Guide is in Appendix A.

Group Discussion

  • PRAYER & SHARING: Begin your group discussion by praying together and sharing what you’ve enjoyed and learned from the week’s Personal Study and spiritual practice(s).
  • INTRODUCTION: Answer a Lean In question and set the tone for your group discussion.
  • OBSERVATION: Share what stands out for you from the week’s group reading.
  • UNDERSTANDING: Seek clarity, insight, and deeper learning from the week’s group reading.
  • APPLICATION: Take action to apply or respond to what you have learned in the session.

Finally, each week will conclude with a short “Things to Remember” page with a key takeaway, a few quotes from Uncharted, and Scripture verses to remind you of what God is teaching you.

Each study guide session corresponds to specific chapters of the book Uncharted: Navigating Your Unique Journey of Faith, and the book contains additional insights and encouraging stories.

And that is it! You are ready to dive in. Blessings as you walk your uncharted journey with God and each other!
