A note from Inés

Dear friend,

I want you to know how deeply loved you are and how much I desire for you to grow in your faith in Jesus and experience his boundless love. Jesus calls each of his followers to walk a unique faith journey with humility, honesty, and faithfulness. He desires for us to “remain in” him and “produce much fruit” (John 15:5). However, in a world filled with obstacles, comparisons, and uncertainties, the path to a flourishing faith is often less straightforward than we might expect.

If you’ve ever felt disconnected from God, his people, or the church, you likely understand the deep longing to find a better way to stay connected to Jesus, no matter the circumstances. At the core of the Christian faith is an invitation to active surrender—to release all our circumstances to our perfectly loving God and give him complete authority over our lives. This faith journey is uncharted—a beautiful and sometimes frightening mystery fully known only to our Creator, who is always with us.

To “remain in” Jesus, you’ll need God’s grace and your commitment—a commitment to let go of the craving for certainty and the desire for control. When we try to control things, people, events, or even the faith journey itself, we increase our struggles and diminish our fruitfulness. Remember, while we are meant to walk in community with other believers, your faith journey is uniquely yours and should be celebrated as such. God made you “fearfully and wonderfully” (Psalm 139:14) on purpose, for a purpose.

Your story, my story, and the stories of biblical characters all highlight the remarkable nature of each faith journey and the unity we have in Christ. A lack of commitment to the unique and uncharted journey God is walking with you can hold you back from experiencing and sharing the abundant life he has promised. But as you commit to your journey despite its obstacles, others will see God’s glory through his work in you.

You can do this study on your own, but it is even better to complete it with a friend, mentor, or small group. If you’re leading the group, make sure to read A Note to the Facilitator in Appendix C

My prayer for you is that you are encouraged to live a flourishing life under the grace of Jesus Christ, daily dependent on him. May the Holy Spirit help you reignite your faith, embrace your story, and shine your light brightly.

With love and blessings,
