Lessons in Gratitude: Even in Struggle, We are Thankful
Paul does not say, “Give thanks FOR all circumstances”. He says “Give thanks IN all circumstances”. Obviously, there is a big difference between the two, but gratitude is God’s practical antidote to unhappiness. In this post, Amy uses the examples of Corrie Ten Boom and the Apostle Paul to challenge us to be both honest and grateful in our daily spiritual walk.
The Names of God: the LORD Will Provide
One of the key names for God is JEHOVAH-JIREH. This precious name tells us that God is our Provider. The literal Hebrew meaning is, "The Lord will Provide," or "God my Provider”. What does this mean, why is this so precious? Because we are assured that God actually does indeed care for us and always will provide. So, we can rest and trust in him when times of hardship come or when we can’t see what is ahead.
Making Disciples of the Next Generation
I am still passionate about making disciples because I often meet people whose experience in Christ reminds me of mine before I met my mentor, Soup Campbell. Through his Godly influence in my life, the Gospel came alive to me and I experienced a revolution in my faith. Biblical discipleship is an important investment into the next generation of believers.
Red light. Grace light.
Truth and grace lie on a spectrum. Some of us place a high value on truth. We proclaim boldly and are strong proponents of the counsel of Scripture. Others reside in grace. These people are the type of friend you call first when you’re hurting. Incredibly, Jesus embodies both grace and truth. Where do you need his balance of these two attributes in your life today?
Giving God Worship (Take Five)
God’s beauty is all around us, but often we fail to see it. How can you embrace his beauty, majesty and power and worship him today? In service to the people in your life and your church community, in the sharing of wisdom, in appreciation for his many gifts, or even in a Sabbath day of rest. What are the ways that you can worship God on a daily, hourly basis?
Grace to You
What can we learn from a study and reflection on even a small passage of Scripture? Here, we reflect on Romans 1:1-7 with Dr. Richard Krejcir. The themes of grace, obedience, discipleship, faith and redemption are all found in these verses - what speaks most to you, and what did you need to read today? Share with us as we grow together.
