Karin Slaughter
Kayleigh's Thoughts
We Are All Guilty Here by Karin Slaughter opens with a strong premise and gripping setup, but loses momentum halfway through, shifting its focus from two seemingly central characters to a single cop navigating family trauma and small-town politics. The twists are subtle, and the plot becomes murky without delivering the tightly-woven suspense readers may expect. Still, for fans of police procedurals and slower-burn thrillers, it offers a familiar and enjoyable ride.
I was all in on the setup—small-town cops, murder, secrets—until the story took a left turn and left me behind.
