The Songbird

Kayleigh's Thoughts

Set against the backdrop of World War II—but far from the typical European front—The Songbird delivers a fresh take on wartime fiction, with compelling themes of identity, loyalty, and resistance.

While the setting and historical layers are intriguing, a slow midsection and unnecessary romance shift the tone in unexpected ways. The final act rushes toward an ending that leaves more questions than closure.

Loved the WWII setting, but was surprised by the sapphic twist.
