The Caraval series is a vivid blend of theatrical fantasy and layered mystery, set in a world where nothing is quite what it seems. With each installment, the stakes grow higher and the magic system more intricate—shifting from whimsical to dark. While the rotating cast of main characters and their often immature decisions may frustrate some readers, the imaginative worldbuilding and creative structure make the trilogy a standout in the YA fantasy genre.
A beautifully imagined world where trust is a game, magic gets darker with every book, and not every character deserves your heart.
