If You Tell a Lie

Lucinda Berry

Kayleigh's Thoughts

In If You Tell A Lie, Lucinda Berry weaves a dual-timeline psychological suspense novel centered around four high school friends who reconnect years later, bound by a secret from their past. As the story shifts between timelines and perspectives, readers are drawn into a tangled web of trauma, manipulation, and unresolved tension. True to Berry’s background as a former psychologist, the narrative dives deep into mental health, emotional coping, and interpersonal power dynamics.

While the book delivers an unpredictable twist that many won’t see coming, the pacing can occasionally feel uneven, and the layered structure may require closer attention to track. Still, it’s a compelling character-driven thriller that leans heavily on emotional drama rather than high-octane thrills.

That ending truly stunned me—I didn’t see it coming, and I was still thinking about it days later.
