We are in a war between what we think is important and what God says is important. Prayer is a struggle for us because, although we need it, we either forget to do it or do not desire it. However, prayer is important. It puts our lives into God’s hands, both in times of urgency and happiness and draws us to him. How can we change our perspective and embrace prayer?
Is Obedience to God a Formula for a Blessed Life?
It’s natural to look for “formulas” for life’s problems. But maybe instead of neat little formulas, we should trust God to strengthen our hearts and help us focus on Him rather than an easy existence in this life. While some are blessed with a charmed earthly existence, others struggle. Justice does not always occur on this earth and within our timelines, but we know that God is good and that our hope is in him.
The Sanctuary of God: Where the World Makes Sense (Psalm 73)
In Psalm 73 we get a glimpse into a personal struggle with the injustice and unfairness in the world. Asaph, the author of Psalm 73, writes a poetic confession of his attempt to understand his world, and in doing so, reveals to us God’s perspective on the mystery. In Asaph’s experience, it’s in the sanctuary of God that the world makes sense.
